We are announcing a call to participate in four conferences from the series "Design in Process" on ceramics, photography, performance arts and clothing design. One of the requirements of the Open Call, which we address to artists, designers and scientists, is to send three photographs presenting one work made by you. Participation in the project also involves participation in a multi-author publication and competitions held as part of the ART&DESIGN festival.

The body, an entity so intimately connected to us and profoundly familiar, often paradoxically escapes our attention. Nietzsche once said, “Everything starts with the body, for the body is a more astonishing thought than the ancient notion of the ‘soul.’” The body is not merely a vessel for the mind; it is through the body that we experience and interact with our environment, constructing our understanding of the world. Thought itself arises from embodied experience and interaction. Yet, as we shape our subjectivity through bodily perception, customs, culture, and information overwhelm us, dulling the body's sensory capacities, or even silencing them, replacing them with accumulated knowledge and experience. At the same time, the natural attributes of the body are increasingly layered with other properties. The body is far from being the transparent and natural entity we imagine; it no longer even remains fully under our control.

The Road Interpenetration Miniature Project is a syncretic reflection of the artist's life journey depicted in a visual and musical – in this case, Chopin – miniature. The compositions were chosen in such a way that, through the pianist's hands, key moments for the creator are shown in a small form. In this dimension, the music corresponds with the visual works, interpenetrates them, draws inspiration from similar sources and associations, and attempts mutual illustration and interaction.

CENTRAL's cross-sectional exhibition in the series 'Amplifying Nature'. These are projects that speak in an investigative way about the circulation of water and its connection to social practices. The scale of their projects is determined not by the size of the object, but by the scale of the phenomena to which it connects us. Flows - thermodynamic interdependencies between different forms of life and existence - are as important to CENTRALA as buildings. The Rain Pavilion, for example, responds to and transfers water precipitation and is ultimately created through the construction of water flow. CENTRALA also shows architecture through gravity, light, wind; they are even elements of architectural designs, their modules, folds, 'bodies without organs'.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

            Festival ART&DESIGN 2023 is the premiere event that sums up the year-long project "Design in Process" - a series of nationwide exhibitions, workshop conferences and scientific conferences and educational workshops.
